Bonds, Giants aim to get back on track vs. Diamondbacks

Jun 30, 2007 - 1:13 PM Arizona (46-35) at San Francisco (33-45) 9:05 pm EDT

SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) - Barry Bonds belted another home run. But that can't buy the San Francisco Giants a win.

Bonds and the Giants aim to snap a three-game skid when they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the middle game of a three-game set at AT&T Park on Saturday night.

In the eighth inning on Friday, Bonds crushed a 3-2 curveball off Diamondbacks starter Livan Hernandez to the seats in right-center field for his 750th career homer and 16th of the season.

The blast leaves Bonds five homers shy of Hank Aaron's all-time mark. But it was not the most important homer on Friday.

Rookie Miguel Montero snapped a 10th-inning tie with a majestic homer as the Arizona pulled out an exciting 4-3 victory. The Giants aim to get back on track behind Noah Lowry (7-6, 3.61 ERA), who yielded one run and two hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 7-2 win vs. the New York Yankees last Sunday. The lefthander struck out two and walked five.

The Diamondbacks have lost four of their last five games.

Lowry did not factor in the decision against Arizona on June 7, yielding four runs and seven hits in six frames, while striking out three and walking two.

He will be opposed by Doug Davis (5-8, 4.16), who allowed two runs and 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings, while striking out three and walking two in an 8-3 win vs. Baltimore last Sunday.
