Twins look to continue winning ways against Tigers

DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Twins look to continue their winning ways Saturday when they meet the Detroit Tigers.

The Twins have won three of their last four while the Tigers have lost three of four.

Minnesota will start rookie Kevin Slowey (2-0, 4.94 ERA), who is making his sixth major league start and his first against Detroit.

The righthander has yet to get past the sixth inning in a start this season. He lasted only five innings, yielding five runs and six hits in an 8-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.

Detroit goes with Andrew Miller (3-1, 2.70) as its starter Saturday. It will be his first outing against an American League club after four interleague starts this season.

On Friday Joe Mauer hit his first career grand slam and Johan Santana outpitched Justin Verlander as the Twins rolled to an 11-1 victory.
