Shields, D-Rays look to end Indians' three-game winning streak

CLEVELAND (Ticker) - James Shields hopes to end his personal slide when the Tampa Bay Devil Rays take on the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.

Since winning three straight outings, Shields (6-3, 3.81 ERA) has struggled in his last three starts, allowing 16 earned runs and 25 hits during that stretch - all losses.

The righthander hopes for a repeat performance against the Indians, who were limited to just to two runs and two hits by Shields on April 22.

Cleveland will counter with Cliff Lee (4-4, 5.37), who has been impressive since dropping four consecutive starts. Lee has yielded seven runs in 18 combined innings, going 2-0 over his last three outings.

The 28-year-old lefthander will be making his first appearance against Tampa Bay and has posted a 3-2 mark with a 2.73 ERA in seven starts.

On Saturday, C.C. Sabathia tossed seven solid innings en route to his league-leading 12th victory as Cleveland survived a late scare for its third straight win, an 8-6 victory.
