Braves go for rare road series sweep over Marlins

MIAMI (Ticker) - The Atlanta Braves go for a three-game series sweep against the Florida Marlins on Sunday.

The Braves have won five straight games by scoring 41 runs after a five-game skid in which they were shut out four times. However, if they do pull the sweep on their division rival, it will only be the second time they have swept the Marlins in three games at Dolphin Stadium, the last one coming May 2-4, 1995.

To complete the sweep, Buddy Carlyle (2-2, 5.14 ERA) will need to break his pattern of roller coaster starts.

Despite yielding one run over seven innings of Tuesday's 6-2 win over Washington, he has struggled in every other start he has made this season. He has followed outings in which has surrendered five, four and seven earned runs with starts in which he has allowed one, two and one runs, respectively.

The righthander is 1-1 in two career starts with a 5.23 ERA against Florida.

The Marlins will counter with Dontrelle Willis (7-7, 4.83 ERA), who has won each of his last four starts against the Braves, including two this season. He is 6-4 with a 4.85 ERA in 16 career starts against the Braves.

The lefthander will be seeking to leave a forgettable June in the past, as he went 0-4 with a 4.82 ERA in his five starts during the month. He is coming off a strong outing though, in which he allowed three runs and seven hits in a 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
