Tigers beat Braves in spring training opener
Feb 22, 2013 - 9:17 PM Lake Buena Vista, FL (Sports Network) - Jeff Kobernus and Hernan Perez each drove in a run during the eighth inning to lift the Detroit Tigers over the Atlanta Braves, 2-1, in the spring training opener for both teams.Rick Porcello started and pitched two innings for the Tigers, who did not allow a run over the first eight innings. Jose Alvarez locked down the save after surrendering a leadoff, ninth inning homer to Atlanta's Joey Terdoslavich.
Tim Hudson got the start for the Braves and also threw for two innings. He did not allow a hit and neither did the five pitchers who succeeded him. Ryan Butcher took the loss after surrendering three hits and two runs in the eighth.
