Harang, Reds get back to work minus Narron

Jul 3, 2007 - 1:50 PM San Francisco (35-45) at Cincinnati (31-51) 7:10 pm EDT

CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- A day after their manager was fired, the Cincinnati Reds get back to work against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

Jerry Narron was fired after a little over two seasons on Monday with the Reds headed toward their first 100-loss season since 1982.

Cincinnati, which owns the worst record in the majors, has lost 12 of its last 17 games and is almost assured of its seventh straight losing season.

Aaron Harang (8-2, 3.80 ERA) has been a bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for the Reds. The righthander is unbeaten in his last seven starts, having allowed more than three runs just once in that span.

Meanwhile, Harang will be opposed by Barry Zito (6-8, 4.61), who has been a major disappointment in his first season in the National League. The lefthander is winless in his last four starts, going 0-3 with a 7.17 ERA.

Barry Bonds, who is five homers shy of tying Hank Aaron's all-time mark, is just 2-for-11 with one home run against Harang.
