Bush, Brewers hope to stop losing streak, take on Nationals
Jul 6, 2007 - 2:50 PM Milwaukee (48-37) at Washington (34-51) 7:05 pm EDTWASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers turn to Dave Bush to try to stop their current skid.
Bush and the Brewers aim to halt a three-game losing streak when they open a three-game series with the Washington Nationals on Friday.
Milwaukee's latest loss was a 6-3 setback at the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday, ending up a four-game set by dropping the last three.
Despite the slide, the Brewers now face a team that it has not lost to this season, sweeping a three-game set from the Nationals at home from May 7-9.
Bush (6-7, 5.11 ERA) will look to winning ways himself as he had won three straight appearances before giving up four runs and six hits in six innings of a 5-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.
Washington, which has lost three of four and 14 of 19, counters with Mike Bacsik (2-5, 4.65).
The lefthander allowed two runs and five hits in a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, but had gone 0-5 in his prior six starts. The Nationals are just 2-9 in the nine starts Bacsik has made in 2007.
Washington dropped a 4-2 decision to the Cubs on Thursday to miss out on splitting a four-game series.
