Mets' Pelfrey looks for elusive first win vs. Houston

HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Mike Pelfrey takes the mound in search of his first win as the New York Mets continue their four-game series with the Houston Astros on Friday.

Pelfrey (0-6, 6.11 ERA) won the first two starts of his career last season, but since then is 0-7 with a 6.50 ERA in nine outings.

The ninth pick of the 2005 draft, Pelfrey allowed three runs - two earned - and four hits in five innings against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday in his first start since spending six weeks in Class AAA New Orleans.

Carlos Delgado may be able to help Pelfrey's cause. Delgado is hitting .477 (21-for-44) with six home runs and 14 RBI in 14 career games vs. the Astros.

On Thursday, the slugger went 4-for-4 and Ramon Castro drove in two runs in place of the suspended Paul Lo Duca as the Mets snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-2 win.

Houston, which has lost two straight after winning five of six, sends Wandy Rodriguez (5-7, 4.23) to the hill.

In his last outing, Rodriguez was outstanding, yielding just three hits in seven scoreless innings against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.
