Bedard hopes to help sliding Orioles
Jul 7, 2007 - 1:44 PM Baltimore (37-48) at Texas (37-49) 8:35 pm EDTARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - Eric Bedard gets the start as the Baltimore Orioles look to avoid a three-game losing streak when they face the Texas Rangers in the second of a three-game series Saturday.
Bedard (6-4, 3.67 ERA) has not lost in his last four outings. The 28-year-old righthander posted a 2-0 record with a 3.51 ERA and 31 strikeouts in that span.
Bedard did not receive a decision after yielding six runs over 5 2/3 innings in a 7-6 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday.
The Orioles have lost three of their last four contests.
The Rangers will counter with Brandon McCarthy (4-5, 6.17), who will be making his second start since returning from the disabled list Monday.
McCarthy lasted just 3 2/3 innings, giving up four runs and six hits with three walks in a 7-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
Michael Young lifted Texas to a 4-3 victory in Friday's game with the a walk-off, RBI single in the 10th inning. That followed Eric Gagne's first blown save in 30 opportunities, dating back to 2004.
