Lilly looks to keep Cubs rolling

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - Ted Lilly takes the mound as the Chicago Cubs look to continue their stellar play in the middle game of a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

Despite dropping the series opener, 8-4, on Friday, Chicago has won 11 of its last 14 games.

Lilly (7-4, 3.84 ERA) has been pitching well and will try and put a halt to the Pirates current four-game winning streak. In his last start the lefthander held Washington to one run and three hits in seven innings on Monday.

While Lilly is looking for his second straight win, he has never beaten the Pirates.

The 31-year-old has not received a decision in four starts against Pittsburgh. On May 8 he held them to two runs and seven hits in seven innings but was not around to see the Pirates win 4-3 in 15 innings.

Like the Cubs, the Pirates are red hot and are looking to match their longest winning streak of the season. Pittsburgh has won eight of 11 and will send John Van Benschoten to the hill.

Van Benschoten (0-2, 4.35) was recovering from shoulder surgery the past two seasons and has not won since 2004. In his last start the righthander did not received a decision after allowing three runs in a season-high six frames against Milwaukee on Monday.
