Myers goes for ChiSox in Cleveland finale
Apr 14, 2013 - 1:05 PMVideo
Myers started last season with the Houston Astros, but was dealt to the White Sox on July 21 in a deal that sent three minor-leaguers to the Astros.
He made 35 relief outings with the White Sox through the end of the season and posted a 3.12 earned run average in 34 2/3 innings, then became a free agent and signed a two-year deal with Cleveland worth $15 million on Jan. 4.
Cleveland has lost both games Myers has pitched in 2013.
The Indians dropped a 10-8 verdict at Toronto after he allowed seven hits and seven runs in five innings, then lost a 14-1 game to the New York Yankees - Myers got a no-decision - after he was touched for seven runs and 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Carlos Carrasco took the loss in the latter game after starting and pitching 3 2/3 innings. Myers finished the game as a long reliever.
For the White Sox, veteran righty Jake Peavy tries to get back on the winning side after two contrasting starts.
He allowed a single earned run in six innings of a 5-2 defeat of the Kansas City Royals in his 2013 debut on April 3, then was touched for six runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings of an 8-7 loss at Washington on April 9.
Peavy, who won as many as 19 games with the San Diego Padres, was an 11-time winner with Chicago in 2012 - his best season with his new team since arriving via trade on July 31, 2009.
He is 4-3 in 10 career starts against the Indians.
On Saturday, Cleveland scored six runs in the fifth inning and defeated the White Sox, 9-4.
Mark Reynolds knocked a grand slam and had five RBI while Nick Swisher and Yan Gomes each hit two-run home runs for the Indians.
Cleveland starter Zach McAllister (1-1) fanned six and allowed three runs -- one earned -- on five hits over 6 1/3 innings.
Alejandro De Aza had a two-run homer and Paul Konerko drove in a run for the White Sox, who saw Chris Sale (1-1) struggle, surrendering eight runs in 4 1/3 innings.
The White Sox won 11 of 18 games between the teams last season. Cleveland last won the season series in 2007.
