Braves try to rebound in Pittsburgh

The Braves had won 10 in a row before Wednesday, when they ran into a hot pitcher and dropped a 1-0 decision to the Kansas City Royals at Turner Field in Atlanta.
Former Brave and Atlanta native Jeff Francoeur drove in the lone run in the fourth inning against Mike Minor (2-1). Minor allowed five hits and fanned five over six strong frames.
"You've got to be pleased with Mike's outing," said Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez. "We had some opportunities. Seemed like Davis just made some pitches when he had to make some pitches."
The Braves have been shut out in both of their losses this season. The Phillies blanked them, 2-0, on April 4.
Teheran, who turned 22 earlier this year, reached the majors with the Braves in 2011 and made three starts in five outings - splitting a pair of decisions.
He pitched 6 1/3 innings in two games in 2012 in the big leagues, then began this season in the starting rotation and has notched a pair of no-decisions against the Chicago Cubs and Washington. The Braves have won both games, though.
In 11 combined innings, he's surrendered 14 hits and nine runs with four walks and eight strikeouts.
Teheran has made one career relief appearance against the Pirates, allowing a single hit in two scoreless innings.
For Pittsburgh, lefty Jeff Locke starts for the 12th time in his 15th major- league outing.
Now 25, the New Hampshire native has spent intermittent time in the big leagues since 2011, making four starts in 2011 and appearing eight times last season - six starts - while winning one of seven decisions.
He opened 2-13 with a 6-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but rebounded for a 3-1 defeat of Cincinnati on April 13, in which he allowed a run on four hits in five innings.
Locke is 1-0 in his career against the Braves.
On Wednesday in Pittsburgh, starter A.J. Burnett tossed seven scoreless innings of one-hit ball in the Pirates' 5-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the finale of a rain- shortened two-game set.
Carlos Beltran's double in the seventh came on Burnett's 96th pitch of the game. Burnett's only other blemish was a hit batsman. He struck out eight.
"My goal every time out is to throw a no-hitter," Burnett said. "I know they are major league hitters that I'm facing and I respect them, but my job is not to give up hits."
Burnett (1-2), who tallied his 2,000th career strikeout, fired his first no- hitter nearly 12 years ago. While with the Florida Marlins, he recorded a wild nine-walk no-no against the San Diego Padres on May 12, 2001.
Andrew McCutchen was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Pittsburgh, which has won six of its last eight games.
The Pirates won four of seven games between the teams in 2012, while the Braves took four of six in 2011.
