Cabrera gets start in rubber game against Rangers
Jul 8, 2007 - 1:22 PM Baltimore (38-48) at Texas (37-50) 3:05 pm EDTARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) -- Daniel Cabrera takes the mound as the Baltimore Orioles hope to take the rubber game of a three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Sunday.
After the Rangers took the first game on Michael Young's walk-off single, Eric Bedard pitched a two-hit shutout, facing the minimum, in a 3-0 Orioles' win Saturday.
The Orioles, who have posted a 3-4 record in July, will hope Daniel Cabrera (6-9, 5.15 ERA) can end his recent struggles.
The 26-year-old Cabrera has recorded just one win in his previous five starts, going 1-3 with a 6.39 ERA and 15 walks in that span.
Cabrera pitched six innings, yielding five runs and six hits with five walks and four strikeouts in a 5-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.
He will be opposed by Kevin Millwood (5-7, 6.54), who has experienced some success in his last four outings. The 32-year-old righthander posted a 3-1 record with a 4.15 ERA with 22 strikeouts over 26 innings.
Millwood surrendered just two runs and five hits with four strikeouts over six innings in an 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday.
