Braves aim for sweep of Rockies at Coors Field

Apr 24, 2013 - 2:57 PM (Sports Network) - After winning both games of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, the Atlanta Braves go for the series sweep on Wednesday afternoon.

The Braves, owners of the best record in the majors, have already swept three teams this season. Sub-freezing temperatures could not stop them on Tuesday, as they won the first game, 4-3, and then cruised a 10-2 victory in the nightcap. Justin Upton went deep in both games to bring his Major League- leading home run total to 11.

He and brother B.J. Upton went back-to-back in the 5th inning of the second game, marking only the second time in history that brothers homered in consecutive at-bats.

"It's fun, it's fun," said Justin, the younger Upton. "He had me excited about his good swing and I got a good pitch to hit too."

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez will give the ball to veteran Tim Hudson, who is making his second attempt at career win No. 200.

"I obviously think about (the milestone) because it's there," Hudson said. "But I don't change anything I do because of that. At some point this year, I'll get it."

History is working against Hudson. He has a career 8.04 ERA in five starts at Coors Field, spanning 15 years. The right-hander has never won in Colorado, and in his last start he was tagged for six runs in four innings at Pittsburgh on Friday.

Colorado recalled Tyler Chatwood from Triple-A Colorado Springs to fill in for Jhoulys Chacin, who is out with a back injury. The right-hander had a 1.84 ERA in three minor league starts this season. Chatwood made 19 appearances (12 starts) with the big league club last season and posted a 5.43 ERA.

He'll look for some more help from a Rockies lineup that is second in the NL in runs scored. Eric Young went 3-for-5 and Michael Cuddyer was 2-for-4 for the Rockies, but they were unable to avoid a third straight loss following an eight-game win streak.

Todd Helton, who has not played since suffering a strained left forearm on Friday, is 12-for-18 lifetime against Hudson. Helton received a cortisone shot on Sunday in hopes of avoiding a stint on the disabled list.

Atlanta has won eight of the last nine meetings with Colorado.
