Cubs visit local White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field

May 27, 2013 - 2:33 PM (Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox go after their fourth straight win on Monday when they host the Cubs for the first two games of the Crosstown Classic at U.S. Cellular Field.

After these two games the teams will then head to 1060 West Addison Street on the north side of town to play a pair at Wrigley Field on Wednesday and Thursday.

"It's nice that we've got four days that we're going to be at home but as far as two and two, that's just the way the schedule is," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said.

The White Sox have won four of six in each of the four previous seasons against the Cubs and enter this series on the heels of a three-game sweep over the Miami Marlins.

On Sunday, Adam Dunn belted a two-run homer and Alejandro De Aza knocked in two more runs with a double as Chicago rolled to a 5-3 win.

The victory, the White Sox' ninth in 12 games, moved them (24-24) to .500 for the first time since the club was 4-4 on April 10.

Dylan Axelrod (3-3) allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings and won his third consecutive start with help from the Chicago bullpen, with four relievers combining for 3 2/3 scoreless frames to close out the contest.

"I didn't have my good stuff, I was kind of erratic in those middle innings," Axelrod said. "But we pulled it out, so I can't be mad about it."

Hoping to keep the White Sox in the win column on Monday will be lefty Jose Quintana, who is 3-1 with a 3.48 ERA. Quintana beat the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, as he scattered three hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings.

This will be his first-ever appearance against the Cubs.

The Cubs, meanwhile, snapped a six-game slide on Sunday, as Welington Castillo plated the go-ahead run with a two-out double in the top of the 10th inning in a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Cincinnati Reds.

"A four-run deficit against that team, to come back -- we got some big hits," Chicago manager Dale Sveum said.

Kevin Gregg (1-0) recorded the final out with two runners aboard in the ninth and worked out of a jam in the bottom of the 10th.

Heading to the hill for the Cubs on Monday will be hard-throwing righty Jeff Samardzija, who has lost six of his last seven decisions. Samardzija lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, but was terrific, as he allowed just a run and three hits in seven innings. He also struck out eight in the 1-0 loss.

Samardzija has faced the White Sox four times (1 start) and is 0-2 with a 3.27 ERA.

"It's such a strange circumstance to play four games in, obviously, the same city but in two different parks," Sveum said. "There's no other way to do it now, and there's nothing you can do about it. But it's kind of funny how it comes that way with the crosstown rivals."
