Indians pay a visit to Rangers in Arlington

Jun 10, 2013 - 2:40 PM (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians will try and turn around what has been an abysmal start to the month of June on Monday when they open a three- game set with the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

The Indians have lost a season-high seven in a row and 11 straight on the road. They have hit just .219 and been outscored, 45-24, during the seven-game slide. The 11-game road losing streak is the club's longest since 1991.

A solo home run by Ryan Raburn accounted for Cleveland's only run in Sunday's 4-1 loss to Detroit.

"We're just not catching a whole lot of breaks," said Justin Masterson, who took the loss on Sunday. "That's going to happen within this game, within this season. For us, we're excited about the talent and ability we have here to be able to overcome this."

The Indians are 4-15 so far in a span of 23 days with 22 games against opponents with winning records.

Monday's series opener kicks off a 10-game homestand for the Rangers, who avoided a series sweep in Toronto with Sunday's 6-4 victory over the Blue Jays. Nelson Cruz, Adrian Beltre and David Murphy all went yard, while four relievers combined to pitch 3 1/3 shutout innings.

The Rangers are 18-8 at home this season.

Josh Lindblom will make a spot start for Texas after Alexi Ogando, the originally scheduled starter, was recently placed on the disabled list with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. It marks the second big league start for Lindblom, who allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings against Oakland on May 20.

Cleveland will turn to Scott Kazmir, who gave up four runs over six innings in a 4-3 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday. The left-hander had posted a 2.25 ERA over his previous two starts.

"There are a couple of pitches that I wish I had back, that's for sure," Kazmir said following his last outing. "That's all the difference in the game."

Texas has won 12 of its last 15 home games against the Tribe and 26 of 34 overall.
