Glavine attempts to close in on 300th win

FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Tom Glavine makes another attempt at career win No. 298 when the New York Mets host the Cincinnati Reds in the third game of a four-game series on Saturday.

Glavine (7-6, 4.36 ERA) is winless in his last two starts, but both those outings were away from Shea Stadium where the lefthander is 4-1 with a 3.29 ERA this season. In his last two starts at home, the 41-year-old has yielded a run in 14 innings.

Glavine has solid career numbers against the Reds, going 26-12 with a 3.40 ERA in 47 starts. This will be his first start against them this season.

Matt Belisle (5-6, 5.28) takes the mound for Cincinnati, which has lost in each of the righthander's last six starts. During that span, Belisle is 0-2 with a 7.43 ERA.

In Friday's game, Brandon Phillips hit a grand slam and tied a career high with six RBI as the Reds defeated the Mets, 8-4.

Cincinnati, which leads the majors with 129 home runs, are 6-2 under interim manager Pete Mackanin.
