Lincecum goes for Giants in Cincinnati
Jul 2, 2013 - 2:52 PM (Sports Network) - Two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum tries for a first win since June 4 on Tuesday night when the San Francisco Giants return to Great American Ball Park to resume a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds drew first blood on Monday when Bronson Arroyo threw a six-inning complete game and Todd Frazier belted a three-run homer and drove in four runs in a rain-shortened 8-1 victory.
Derrick Robinson had a two-run double and Zack Cozart also knocked in a pair as the Reds won for just the third time in their last 10 games.
Arroyo (7-6) allowed two hits and had three strikeouts to log his first complete game of the season and 14th of his career. He also broke a personal four-game winless skid and moved to 6-1 at home this year.
Mike Kickham (0-3) struggled in his third major league start. The lefty surrendered nine hits and seven runs over 2 2/3 innings to watch his ERA climb to 13.94.
Brandon Belt homered for the Giants, who have lost seven of their last eight contests.
Lincecum, who was 33-12 while winning consecutive awards as the NL's best pitcher in 2008 and 2009, hasn't won since downing Toronto in early June with seven innings of three-hit ball.
He'd lost three straight starts before that victory and is 0-3 in four outings since, including a 4-2 loss at the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 26.
The Giants have won just twice in his last 10 starts.
Lincecum is 0-1 in three career meetings with the Reds.
For Cincinnati, right-hander Homer Bailey aims for his own first win since June 10.
He reached .500 on the season that day with a 6-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, but has since dropped two decisions in three starts while allowing 12 runs in 19 innings.
He's 2-1 in eight home starts in 2013, but hasn't won in Cincinnati since defeating the Cubs, 5-2, on May 25.
Bailey is 1-0 in five lifetime starts against the Giants.
The Reds won the season series with the Giants, 4-3, in 2012 and downed San Francisco, 5-2, in 2011.
