Pirates look to end four-game skid

Jul 17, 2007 - 4:22 PM Colorado (46-46) at Pittsburgh (40-52) 7:05 pm EDT

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - The Pittsburgh Pirates will be after their first win since the All-Star break when they host the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh has lost all four of its games in the second half.

Shane Youman (2-0, 3.00 ERA) gets the start for Pittsburgh and will be seeking his third win in as many starts this season.

The lefthander was recalled from Class AAA Indianapolis earlier this month when Zach Duke was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left elbow injury. Youman has allowed two runs in six innings during each of his two starts.

Josh Fogg (4-6, 5.36) takes the mound for the Rockies, who have just three wins in their last 14 road games. Though he has a win to show for it, Fogg has not pitched well during he previous three outings. During that span he has allowed 16 runs - four home runs - in 16 2/3 innings.

Fogg has faced his former team just once, allowing eight runs in 4 1/3 innings during a 2006 meeting. He did not receive a decision in the game as the Rockies won 16-9.

Pirates outfielder Jason Bay has hit safely in 15 consecutive games against the Rockies, batting .480 (24-for-50) with three homers, seven doubles, one triple, 15 RBI and 18 runs during that span.

Colorado won a wild game here on Tuesday, escaping with a 10-8 victory after nearly blowing a 9-1 lead. Pittsburgh closed to within 9-8, but could not complete the rally. Despite the loss, Pittsburgh is 17-9 all time against Colorado at PNC Park.
