Millwood looking to hand A's 10th straight defeat

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Kevin Millwood aims to win his third straight decision when the Texas Rangers square off against the Oakland Athletics in the finale of a three-game series Wednesday.

Millwood (6-7, 5.77 ERA) has posted a 4-1 record with a 3.23 ERA and 33 strikeouts over his previous six starts.

The 32-year-old righthander did not receive a decision in his last start, yielding just one run and five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts over seven innings in a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday.

The Rangers are looking to close out their current six-game road trip with four straight wins.

The Athletics are hoping to end a nine-game losing streak that has resulted in them dropping to 12 games behind the division-leading Angels in the AL West.

Oakland will turn to lefthander Lenny DiNardo (3-6, 2.78), who has just one win in his last seven starts.

The 27-year-old Dinardo pitched five innings, surrendering three runs - two earned - and eight hits with two walks in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

Michael Young had five hits and drove in three runs in Texas' 11-4 triumph over Oakland on Tuesday.
