Tribe try to stay hot versus White Sox
Jul 29, 2013 - 2:53 PM (Sports Network) - Illinois native Zach McAllister tries to end a personal three-start skid on Monday night when the Cleveland Indians host the Chicago White Sox to begin a four-game series at Progressive Field.McAllister was 4-3 on the season after a 12-3 rout of the Boston Red Sox on May 23 at Fenway Park, but he's dropped three in a row since, while allowing 25 hits and 12 runs in 14 2/3 innings.
A 4-3 loss at Seattle on July 23 was the most recent misstep, as the 25-year- old allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out five batters in five innings.
He last faced the White Sox on April 24 in Chicago and lost a 3-2 verdict after allowing three runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. The loss was his first in five meetings with the White Sox.
Lefty John Danks tries for the seventh time for his initial road win of the season for the White Sox. The 28-year-old has dropped five decisions in six road starts thus far in 2013, including a 3-1 defeat at Tampa Bay on July 7.
In that game, Danks allowed three runs on five hits in seven innings, and, one start later, he allowed eight hits and three runs in 6 1/3 innings at Philadelphia - in a game the White Sox ultimately won, 5-4.
In 16 career meetings with the Indians, he's 4-8 with a 4.94 earned run average.
On Sunday in Chicago, Jarrod Dyson threw out the potential game- winning run in the 10th frame and Alex Gordon smacked a two-run homer two innings later to help the Kansas City Royals complete a three-game sweep of the White Sox with a 4-2 decision at U.S. Cellular Field.
Adam Dunn highlighted Chicago's offense with a solo home run, but it wasn't enough to stop the club from losing for the sixth time in its last seven games.
Meanwhile in Cleveland, Ubaldo Jimenez pitched eight innings of two-hit ball as the Indians wrapped up a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers with a 6-0 win.
Jimenez (8-5) walked three and struck out six and Mike Aviles hit a two-run home run for the Indians, who have won four straight. Michael Bourn added a two-run double in the win.
The Indians won seven of the first nine games with the White Sox in 2013, including four in a row from June 28 through June 30.
