Traber looks to keep Nationals rolling
Jul 20, 2007 - 2:38 PM Colorado (48-47) at Washington (40-55) 7:05 pm EDTWASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The lowly Washington Nationals have been giving their fans something to cheer about lately.
Billy Traber takes the mound on Friday as the Nationals continue their four-game series with the Colorado Rockies.
Washington, which is tied with San Francisco for the National League's worst mark, has won five of six at home after D'Angelo Jimenez hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning of a 5-4 win on Thursday.
Traber (2-0, 4.50 ERA) is making a spot start for Jason Simontacchi, who has tendinitis in his right elbow. The lefthander has been part of a bullpen that has posted a 2.20 ERA in the last nine games.
The Nationals, who snapped an eight-game losing streak to Colorado, will take their swings against Aaron Cook (5-6, 4.60). The righthander has just one win in his last nine starts.
Cook received a no-decision in his last start, allowing two runs and four hits in six innings against Milwaukee on Sunday.
Colorado, which has lost six of Cook's last seven starts, had its three-game winning streak snapped, but has still won 10 of 15 overall.
