Robertson takes the ball for Tigers in finale

DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Tigers face the Kansas City Royals in the rubber game of a three-game series Sunday.

Brandon Inge delivered a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to clean up closer Todd Jones' mess as Detroit posted a 10-8 victory on Saturday.

"I had been trying to be aggressive and hit the ball on the screws," Inge said. "I had gotten a lot of good swings and popped the ball up.

The Tigers have won five of their last six contests to maintain a slim one-game lead over the Cleveland Indians in the American League Central.

Detroit's Nate Robertson (6-6, 4.53 ERA) goes after his first three-game winning streak of the season after tossing seven strong innings for a 1-0 win at Minnesota on Tuesday.

The lefthander is 4-3 with a 4.60 ERA in eight lifetime outings against Kansas City. Robertson will be making his first start against the Royals this season. Brian Bannister (5-6, 3.87) counters for the Royals. In his last start, Bannister gave up four runs - three home runs - in six innings in a 4-0 setback at Boston on Monday.

The 26-year-old rookie lasted 4 2/3 frames, giving up four runs and eight hits of a 6-3 loss in his first career start against the Tigers on May 4.
