Guthrie looks to continue to shine on the road
Jul 22, 2007 - 1:06 PM Baltimore (43-53) at Oakland (46-51) 4:05 pm EDTOAKLAND, California (Ticker) - Jeremy Guthrie goes to the hill for the Baltimore Orioles in the finale of their weekend series against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday.
Guthrie (5-3, 3.06 ERA) aims for his third straight road winning decision. In his last outing, the righthander held Seattle to just two runs through six innings for an 8-3 victory on Tuesday.
The righthander's first loss of the season came at the hands of Oakland on April 24. He allowed two runs and four hits over five innings in that contest.
The Athletics will start rookie Dallas Braden (1-4, 6.07), who gave up four runs and eight hits in six frames of a 4-1 setback to Texas on Monday. It was his first appearance since being recalled from Class AAA Sacramento.
Braden recorded his first career win against the Orioles on April 24, limiting them to one run and three hits at Camden Yards.
Jack Cust delivered his 17th homer of the season and All-Star Dan Haren tossed 6 2/3 solid innings as Oakland posted a 4-3 on Saturday.
This is the rubber game of the series.
