Fogg, Rockies aim to finish trip on high note, face Nationals

Jul 22, 2007 - 2:04 PM Colorado (49-48) at Washington (41-56) 1:35 pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Colorado Rockies look to Josh Fogg to help them finish a long trip on the upside.

Fogg and the Rockies hope to split a four-game series with the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

Colorado absorbed a 3-0 shutout at the hands of Washington on Saturday to drop the team to 5-4 on its current 10-game road trip.

To finish the trek at .500, the Rockies turn to Fogg (5-6, 5.15 ERA), who is 4-1 in his last eight starts.

The righthander allowed just two runs and five hits in seven innings in a 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. It was the second straight win for Fogg, who has not won three in a row since June 24-July 5 of last season.

Fogg has had minimal success vs. the Nationals, going 1-3 in seven career starts against the National League East club.

Washington, which has the second worst record in the NL, puts its hopes in Tim Redding (1-2, 4.00), who makes his fourth start of the season.

The righthander, who had been out of the majors all of last season, suffered a 4-2 loss to the Houston Astros on Tuesday when he gave up three runs and seven hits - including two homers - in seven innings.

The 29-year-old has yielded three runs or less in his prior three starts, but has just one victory to show for it as he has only reached the seventh inning once.

Redding has faced the Rockies just once, but has no decision vs. Colorado.
