Marshall, Cubs look to take series from Diamondbacks

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Cubs turn to Sean Marshall to help them collect another home series.

Marshall and the Cubs aim for their fourth win in five games when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks in the finale of a three-game series on Sunday.

Chicago's three-game winning streak was snapped when Arizona won, 3-2, on Saturday. Despite the loss, the Cubs are 29-14 since June 3 to nearly close the gap in the National League Central. They remain 2 1/2 games behind first-place Milwaukee in the division.

Chicago turns to Marshall (4-3, 3.43 ERA) in order to win its fifth straight home series.

The lefthander is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in his last three starts after earning a win vs. the crosstown Chicago White Sox on June 24. Marshall allowed two runs and five hits in six innings on Tuesday, but did not get a decision in the Cubs' 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants.

The Diamondbacks counter with Yusmeiro Petit (1-2, 3.22), who will make his fourth straight start in place of the injured Randy Johnson. The young righthander allowed three runs - two earned - and eight hits in five innings of a 3-2 loss at Milwaukee on Tuesday.

Petit had one relief appearance vs. the Cubs last season, but has never made a start vs. them.
