Jays target series sweep at expense of Twins

TORONTO (Ticker) -- With shutouts in three of their last four games, the Toronto Blue Jays look to continue their strong stretch on pitching as they go for the series sweep against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday.

The Blue Jays are seeking their first home sweep of the Twins since August 28-30, 1998.

Rookie Jesse Litsch (2-4, 4.54 ERA) takes the ball for the Blue Jays. The righthander will be looking for some run support since the Blue Jays have not scored more than runs in any of his seven starts,

In his only other career appearance against the Twins, Litsch settled did not receive a decision. He yielded three runs over 4 1/3 innings on May 25.

Toronto is seeking its season-high fifth straight win.

Trying to avoid matching a season-high five-game road losing streak, the Twins send Carlos Silva (8-10, 4.60) to the mound. The righthander is looking to win his third straight start.

Silva is 2-2 with a 5.81 ERA in four career starts versus the Blue Jays, with both wins coming in the two starts he made against Toronto this season.
