Suppan, Brewers look to end road woes vs. Reds

CINCINNATI (Ticker) - Jeff Suppan and the Milwaukee Brewers have struggled on the road. The Cincinnati Reds have been hot at home.

Something has to give when Suppan (8-8, 4.92 ERA) takes the mound for the Brewers as they meet in a rubber game of a three-game series.

Yovani Gallardo threw six effective innings and Prince Fielder drove in two runs as Milwaukee posted a 5-3 victory on Tuesday.

Despite the win, the Brewers have lost nine of their last 13 on the road and hold a slim three-game lead over the Chicago Cubs.

Suppan has struggled of late, going winless in his last five starts. The righthander yielded three runs and nine hits in five innings against San Francisco on Friday.

Ken Griffey Jr. has gone seven games since his last home run, but enters with dominating numbers against Suppan. The future Hall of Famer is 11-for-19 with five home runs against Suppan.

As for the Reds, they won five of their last six at home and will send Kyle Lohse (5-12, 4.71) to the mound. Lohse will be trying to avoid his major league-leading 13th loss.

Lohse lost his second straight start on Friday when he allowed seven runs - four earned - and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings against Florida.
