Wainwright, Cardinals look to bounce back vs. Cubs

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals aim to rebound against the Chicago Cubs in the second their three-game series on Wednesday.

Aramis Ramirez had four hits and snapped a late tie and Derrek Lee added an RBI single in the ninth as Chicago posted a 4-3 victory in Tuesday's series opener.

Trying to even the series, the Cardinals turn to Adam Wainwright (9-7, 4.18 ERA), who will try to pick up his fourth straight winning decision after limiting Atlanta to just one run and six hits in seven inning of a 4-2 win.

The 25-year-old reliever turned starter struggled in his last appearance against the Cubs, getting tagged for six runs and seven hits in just 4 1/3 frames on April 28.

Chicago will counter with Ted Lilly (10-4, 3.58), who in 6-0 in his last seven starts. The lefthander also is looking to win six straight starts for the first time since August 25-September 21, 2003 while with Oakland.

Last time out, Lilly allowed three runs and six hits in five innings to defeat the San Francisco Giants, 9-8, on Thursday. He is 1-1 in two starts against the Cardinals.
