Bonds continues pursuit of Aaron
Jul 25, 2007 - 2:07 PM Atlanta (54-47) at San Francisco (41-57) 10:15 pm EDTSAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) - Barry Bonds continues his pursuit of baseball's home run record Wednesday as the San Francisco Giants meet the Atlanta Braves.
Bonds remains at 753 homers, two shy of tying Hank Aaron's all-time mark.
Bonds, who turned 43 years old Tuesday, went 1-for-5 as the Giants endured 7-5 loss. Atlanta has won the first two games of the four-game series.
On Wednesday, Bonds will take his swings against Chuck James. Bonds has two walks in his career against the lefthander.
Edgar Renteria stroked the go-ahead two-run double in the 13th inning on Tuesday.
Noah Lowry (10-7, 3.55 ERA) takes the hill for San Francisco. In his last outing, Lowry battled through six strong innings to beat Milwaukee, 8-4, at Miller Park on Friday.
The lefthander is 0-1 with a 4.61 ERA in three career starts against Atlanta, which took the series opener 4-2 on Monday.
James (8-7, 3.58) has been stellar in his previous two starts despite coming away empty handed both times, yielding just one run in 13 innings.
In his lone career start vs. the Giants, James tossed seven solid frames for the win on August 30. He is 1-0 in three lifetime appearance against the Giants.
