Rodriguez seeks 500th career homer

BALTIMORE (Ticker) - Alex Rodriguez again aims for his 500th career homer Saturday when the New York Yankees face the Baltimore Orioles.

Celebrating his 32nd birthday, Rodriguez went 0-for-2 with two walks in Friday's 4-2 loss. Before the regularly scheduled game, Rodriguez grounded out in his lone at-bat as the Yankees completed an 8-7 win from a June 28 suspended game.

Rodrgiuez is trying to become the 22nd player in baseball history to reach the 500-homer plateau.

Rodriguez someday is headed to the Hall of Fame as his teammate Roger Clemens (3-4, 3.72 ERA), who is looking to reach the .500 mark.

The 24-year veteran won his last start, yielding two runs and four hits in seven innings in a 9-2 trouncing of Kansas City ob Monday. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner has had good success vs. the Orioles, going 22-13 in 50 outings.

The Orioles counter with Brian Burres (4-4, 4.33), who looks to rebound from back-to-back losses. Burres has no record and a 5.40 ERA in three career relief appearances against the Yankees.
