Halladay, Buehrle set for classic pitchers' duel

Jul 28, 2007 - 1:30 PM Toronto (51-51) at Chi White Sox (47-56) 7:05 pm EDT

CHICAGO (Ticker) - Mark Buehrle hopes its his turn this time around when the Chicago White Sox battle Roy Halladay the the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

On May 13, Halladay threw seven scoreless innings to outshine Buehrle, who allowed two runs through eight, during a classic pitchers' duel as Toronto posted a 2-0 victory. Buehrle (7-6, 3.23 ERA) seeks revenge in this one as he hopes to bounce back from his last start, surrendering seven runs and 14 hits - both season highs - in 6 1/3 frames of a 9-6 setback to Detroit on Monday.

The 28-year-old lefthander, who became a father for the first time on Thursday, is 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA against the Blue Jays in nine career appearances.

Halladay (11-4, 4.15) takes the ball for Toronto, which has won five of its last six games. The 2003 American League Cy Young Award winner was outstanding last time out, holding Seattle to just three hits en route to his ninth career shutout last Sunday.

In Friday's series opener, Juan Uribe drove in the go-ahead run and Jermaine Dye homered as Chicago survived for its fourth win in five tries with a 4-3 triumph.
