Marshall, Cubs look to get back on track vs. Reds
Jul 28, 2007 - 2:23 PM Chicago Cubs (53-48) at Cincinnati (45-59) 7:10 pm EDTCINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Chicago Cubs turn to Sean Marshall to help get their winning stride back.
Marshall and the Cubs look to even their three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.
Chicago absorbed a 4-2 loss to Cincinnati on Friday to drop a second straight game. It was just the second time in 30 games that the Cubs have lost two consecutive contests.
The rare loss dropped Chicago to three games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central.
Marshall (4-4, 3.25 ERA) takes the mound looking for his first win in five starts. The 6-7 lefthander is 0-2 after starting out 4-1 in his first six outings.
The 24-year-old was a tough-luck loser in a 3-0 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday, yielding only a run and five hits in six innings. Marshall has never faced the Reds.
Cincinnati counters with ace Aaron Harang (10-2, 3.45), who seeks his sixth straight winning decision.
The righthander is 5-0 in his previous 12 starts, which is the longest winning streak by a Reds pitcher since Paul Wilson won seven straight from April 6-May 25, 2004.
Harang leads the NL in innings pitched (151.1) and is 6-1 lifetime vs. Chicago, including a 5-1 victory vs. the Cubs on April 2.
