Rockies, Dodgers continue abbreviated four-game series

Jul 28, 2007 - 2:44 PM LA Dodgers (57-46) at Colorado (51-51) 9:05 pm EDT

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers look to continue their success against the Colorado Rockies when the teams continue a four-game series Saturday.

The two teams have not been in action since Thursday's 5-4 win by Los Angeles, as rain postponed Friday's contest. It will be made up when the teams meet again in September.

The Dodgers have won 18 of their last 24 games against the Rockies, including eight of 10 at Coors Field.

Los Angeles will pin its hopes of lengthening those successful runs on Brett Tomko (2-7, 5.42 ERA), who has managed a 6-8 mark and a 3.85 ERA against Colorado in 24 lifetime appearances, including 18 starts. He is just 1-5 with a 7.26 ERA in his career at Coors Field.

Tomko, who is filling the rotation spot of Randy Wolf while he is on the disabled list, is making his third consecutive start for the lefthander.

Countering for Colorado will be ace Jeff Francis (10-5, 4.22). The 26-year-old Canadian has not suffered a loss since June 8 at the Baltimore Orioles, going 5-0 over his last eight starts.

Francis has had his problems recently, surrendering five runs or more in three of his last four outings.
