Livingston moved up to start for Reds against Nationals

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - The Cincinnati Reds were supposed to send Kyle Lohse to the mound on Tuesday. But after trading the veteran hurler to the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, Bobby Livingston will take Lohse's turn when the team opens a three-game series at the Washington Nationals.

Livingston (2-1, 3.72 ERA) is set to make his sixth career start one day earlier than planned. The 24-year-old lefthander has allowed three earned runs in six innings in each of his last two starts, going 0-1 in that span.

Livingston will be supported by an offense that has managed a total of one run in its last two games, both losses. Sluggers Ken Griffey Jr., Adam Dunn and Brandon Phillips were a combined 1-for-19 in the two games.

The Nationals will counter with Matt Chico (4-6, 4.78). The rookie lefthander has just one win in his last 12 starts.

Consistency has been an issue for Chico, who is 0-1 with a 7.02 ERA over his last three starts after going 1-0 with a 0.47 ERA in the three previous outings.

Washington took three of four from the Reds from May 21-24.
