Crawford, Devil Rays host Orioles

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) - Carl Crawford will look to help the Tampa Bay Devil Rays continue their current roll when they face the Baltimore Orioles in the opener of a three-game series Friday.

Crawford, who has been hampered by a sore right wrist, should benefit from the Devil Rays' off day on Thursday. Despite the injury, the 25-year-old speedster went 5-for-8 with two home runs, three RBI, and two stolen bases in the three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Tampa Bay, which has won three of its last four contests after losing eight straight, will send James Shields (8-6, 4.47 ERA) to the mound. The 25-year-old Shields gave up three runs and six runs with seven strikeouts over five innings in a 12-6 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.

He will be opposed by Daniel Cabrera (7-11, 5.08), who posted a 1-3 record over the month of June. The Dominican lefthander yielded four runs and six hits with five walks and five strikeouts in a 10-6 loss to the New York Yankees on Sunday.

The Orioles have lost four of their last six following a five-game winning streak.
