Guerrero, Angels aim to bounce back vs. A's

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim will try to rebound against the Oakland Athletics in the third game of a four-game set on Saturday.

Oakland used an aggressive five-run eighth inning on Friday to rally for an 8-4 victory over the Angels, who wasted a huge performance by Vladimir Guerrero.

The 31-year-old Guerrero has homered four times in the first two games of their series after having gone 30 contests and 124 at-bats without a blast.

Anaheim's Kelvim Escobar (11-5, 2.87 ERA) looks to put an end his two-game slide after yielding two runs in eight innings in Monday's 2-0 setback at Seattle.

Just 12 days ago, the Venezuelan righthander saw his five-game undefeated streak stopped by Oakland.

Joe Blanton (8-8, 3.82) takes the ball for the Athletics, who have won seven of their 11 meetings in the season series over the Angels. He is searching for his first win since July 3.

The 26-year-old righthander surrendered five runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 frames in remaining winless in five straight decisions, a 5-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Monday.
