Teixeira hopes to continue good start with Braves

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The move to the Atlanta Braves has been a great one for Mark Teixeira so far.

Teixeira will look to extend his home run streak when the Braves host the Colorado Rockies on Saturday in the second of a three-game series.

One of the most sought after players at the trade deadline, Teixeira has been on a tear since joining Atlanta, homering in three straight games. The 27-year-old became the first Brave since Gary Sheffield in 2002 to homer in his first three games with the club. He is 5-for-15 with seven RBI since joining the squad.

Teixeira hit a solo shot - his 16th of the season - in the ninth inning of the Braves' 9-2 loss to the Rockies, their second straight.

Atlanta will turn to Tim Hudson (11-5, 3.09 ERA) to help it avoid a three-game losing streak. The 32-year-old righthander is 5-0 with a 2.31 ERA and 33 strikeouts in his previous seven contests. The Braves are undefeated in Hudson's starts in that span.

The Rockies will counter with Ubaldo Jimenez (1-0, 3.50), who will be making his fourth start of the season. The 23-year-old Dominican allowed two runs and four hits with three strikeouts over six innings on Sunday to record his first career win, a 9-6 triumph over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Colorado has won five of its last six games en route to posting a franchise-best record (56-52) at this point of the season.
