Haren and Lackey square off as A's face Angels

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - A pair of aces square off when the Oakland Athletics face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday in the finale of a four-game series.

After dropping the series opener, the Athletics have won the last two contests.

There will be a pair of All-Stars on the mound as Oakland starts Dan Haren (13-3, 2.42 ERA) and the Angels counter with John Lackey (13-3, 3.07). They both are trying to join Carlos Zambrano and C.C. Sabathia as 14-game winners.

Haren has won three straight starts for the fourth time this season. He has not won four consecutive outings since a six-game run from July 26-August 21, 2006.

Haren is 3-5 with a 4.05 ERA in nine career starts against the Angels.

Lackey posted his first shutout in over a year when he held the Seattle Mariners to seven hits in an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. It was the righthander's first shutout since blanking Tampa Bay on July 14, 2006.

Lackey is 10-3 with a 2.93 ERA in 21 career starts against the Athletics.

The Angels have lost four of their last six games.
