Crawford, Devil Rays look to bounce back

ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - Carl Crawford hopes his red-hot bat will help the Tampa Bay Devil Rays bounce back when they face the Texas Rangers on Saturday in the second game of a three-game series.

Crawford has seven straight multi-hit performances and is currently on an 11-game hitting streak. The 26-year-old speedster is 20-for-33 (.606) with 12 runs scored over his last seven contests.

The Rangers will send John Rheinecker (1-0, 7.40 ERA) to the mound in hopes of shutting down Crawford. The 28-year-old Rheinecker, who is making just his fifth start of the season, was tagged for seven runs and nine hits with four walks and six strikeouts over five innings in a 9-7 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

Frank Catalanotto blasted a three-run homer and drove in five runs to lead Texas to a 7-4 win in Friday's series opener. Despite the win, the Rangers have still lost six of their last eight and nine of their previous 13 contests.

The Devil Rays will counter with Edwin Jackson (2-11, 6.35), who yielded two runs and seven hits with four walks over six frames in a 6-4 setback to the Detroit Tigers on Monday.
