Brewers seek seventh straight win over Astros

HOUSTON (Ticker) - The Milwaukee Brewers look for their seventh straight win over the Houston Astros when the teams conclude a three-game series Sunday.

Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth inning to lift the Brewers to a 7-4 victory on Saturday. Milwaukee is 9-2 overall against Houston this season.

The Brewers are seeking to sweep a road series for the first time this season. They are just 23-35 away from Miller Park.

Milwaukee holds a 1 1/2-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.

Claudio Vargas (9-4, 4.97 ERA) gets the call for the Brewers. The righthander has lost his last two starts, allowing 13 runs and 17 hits over 9 2/3 innings. He gave up six runs and 12 hits over seven innings in losing at Colorado on Monday.

On the season, Vargas is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in two starts against the Astros.

Trying to avoid the sweep, the Astros counter with Woody Williams (6-12, 5.21 ERA). Williams worked around four hits and four walks to pick up the win on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs. The righthander surrendered just one run in six innings while striking out seven.

Williams is 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA in two starts against the Brewers this season.
