Dodgers look to snap scoring funk vs. Astros

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers are mired in a long scoring slump, something they hope to end when they host the Houston Astros in the opener of a four-game series on Monday.

The Dodgers are just 2-8 over their last 10 contests, scoring more than two runs in just two of those games.

Chad Billingsley (7-3, 3.34 ERA) has been provided with just one run of support in his last three starts. The latest of his three straight losses came in Wednesday's 1-0 loss at Cincinnati, when he yielded one run and six hits over five innings.

Opposing Billingsley will be Roy Oswalt (12-6, 3.42), who has been masterful lately. The righthander yielded one run or less in each of his last four turns and owns a 4-0 record in that time. In Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Chicago Cubs, he allowed six hits over six scoreless frames.

A three-time All-Star, Oswalt is 3-3 with a 4.70 ERA in five career starts and one relief appearance against the Dodgers.

Oswalt is seeking his 111th career victory, which would move him into third place on the Astros' all-time list ahead of Mike Scott.
