Marcum, Blue Jays to face Angels
Aug 15, 2007 - 1:44 PM LA Angels (69-48) at Toronto (60-58) 7:07 pm EDTTORONTO (Ticker) -- Shaun Marcum is making a name for himself as one of the top young pitchers in the game. He will look to keep that reputation when the Toronto Blue jays host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Wednesday.
Marcum (9-4, 3.43 ERA) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before allowing a single last Friday at Kansas City, leaving with a leg cramp after 6 2/3 frames. The 25-year-old righthander has won four starts in a row and has allowed three runs or less in 14 of 17 starts this season.
The Blue Jays took the opener of the three-game series on Tuesday behind a four-hit complete-game effort from ace Roy Halladay, handing the Angels another road loss. Anaheim is now 29-31 on the road compared to 40-17 at home.
The Angels will counter with rookie Dustin Moseley (4-1, 4.93). The 25-year-old has yet to suffer a loss as a starter after moving into the rotation in the absence of former Cy Young winner Bartolo Colon.
Moseley has started three games since July 29 and has a 7.98 ERA with three no decisions over that span.
Despite Tuesday's loss, Anaheim maintained a three-game lead in the American League West over the Seattle Mariners (66-51).
