Bonds, Giants set to face Marlins

MIAMI (Ticker) -- Barry Bonds makes his way to South Florida when the San Francisco Giants open a four game series against the Florida Marlins on Friday.

Bonds took the night off on Thursday in the Giants' 9-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves but is expected back in the lineup on Friday. He hit his 759th career homer on Wednesday to move four past Hank Aaron atop the all-time list.

Bonds will be taking his hacks on Friday against Scott Olsen (9-9, 5.39 ERA). The 23-year-old lefthander has allowed three earned runs in each of his last two starts, going 1-0.

Olsen has faced San Francisco just once in his career, earning a win while allowing one run in seven innings last season. Bonds went 1-for-3 with a strikeout in that game.

Taking the hill for the Giants will be Barry Zito (8-11, 5.13). The veteran lefthander has been a disappointment since signing a record seven-year, $126 million contract to join San Francisco in the offseason.

Zito lost last Sunday at Pittsburgh, allowing three runs and six hits in six innings. He was roughed up by the Marlins on July 27, surrendering six runs and eight hits in four innings.

Florida dropped two of three to the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier in the week.
