Orioles look to bounce back vs. Blue Jays

Aug 18, 2007 - 12:30 PM Baltimore (56-64) at Toronto (62-59) 1:07 pm EDT

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Orioles aim to rebound in the second game of a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

A.J. Burnett pick up his second straight win with 6 1/3 solid innings and Frank Thomas hit his 506th career homer in a five-run third inning as the Blue Jays posted a 5-2 triumph in Friday's series opener.

It was just the second loss in five games for the Orioles, who are coming off series wins against American League East foes the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

Baltimore turns to Steve Trachsel (5-7, 4.85 ERA), who is in search of his first winning decision since June 8 against Colorado - span of nine starts. He is 0-3 with a lackluster 6.55 ERA over this stretch.

Last time out, the 36-year-old righthander gave up three runs and 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings, but did not figure in Sunday's 6-3 victory over the Red Sox.

A former Blue Jay for part of the 2000 season, Trachsel is 5-0 with a 2.95 ERA in six career starts against Toronto.

Rookie Jesse Litsch (4-5, 3.54) takes the ball for the Blue Jays, who have won four of their last six games.

In his last start, Litsch gave up five runs - two earned - and six hits in 6 2/3 frames in a 6-2 setback at the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

The righthander has faced Baltimore once before, limited it to one run and four hits in 8 2/3 innings of a 2-1 decision to win his major league debut on May 15 at Camden Yards.
