Twins seek fourth straight win
Aug 18, 2007 - 1:16 PM Texas (53-68) at Minnesota (61-60) 7:35 pm EDTMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Manager Ron Gardenhire have the Minnesota Twins at it once again.
Gardenhire looks to guide the Twins to their fourth straight win when they welcome in the Texas Rangers in the second game of a weekend series on Saturday.
Nick Punto scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch by Jamey Wright in the bottom of the 10th inning as Minnesota escaped with a 2-1 win in Friday's opener.
The triumph pulled the Twins within six games of the Cleveland Indians (67-54) for first place in the American League Central standings. Minnesota rallied to win the division last season.
The Twins hand the ball to Boof Bonser (5-9, 4.77 ERA), who hopes to finally get over his 11-game winless streak. The righthander has not earned a victory since beating the Washington Nationals on June 10.
In his last outing, Bonser gave up five runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 6-2 loss at the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday.
Kameron Loe (5-9, 5.80) takes the hill for Texas. He is making his first start since being placed on the 15-day disabled list with lower back tightness on July 30.
The 25-year-old righthander is 0-3 with a 7.84 ERA in his previous four starts.
Loe is 2-1 all-time vs. the Twins, surrendering five runs and eight hits in six innings of a 7-1 loss at home against Minnesota on May 22.
