Gaudin aims to help A's bounce back

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - The Oakland Athletics will try to bounce back against the Kansas City Royals in the second game of their weekend series on Saturday.

Brain Bannister notched his first career complete game and Billy Butler drove in two runs as the Royals ended the A's four-game winning streak on Friday, 9-2.

Chad Gaudin (9-8, 4.12 ERA) gets the call for Oakland after he tossed 6 2/3 solid innings to defeat the Detroit Tigers and end his personal six-game winless slide on Monday. He struck out a season-high nine batters

In his lone career start against the Royals, the 24-year-old righthander yielded one run and five hits with eighth strikeouts over eight innings to down Kansas City 6-1 on May 8.

Kansas City's Odalis Perez (7-11, 5.78 ERA) looks to pick right up from where Bannister left off. Last time out, Perez gave up two runs in five frames in a 6-2 win against Toronto on Monday.

On May 16, the lefthander blanked Oakland for six innings, but did not figure in to the decision as the Royals held on for a 4-3 triumph. It was perhaps Perez's best showing this season.
