Bay, red-hot Pirates offense host Phillies

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - The Pittsburgh Pirates hope their offense continues to produce when they host the Philadelphia Phillies in the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday.

The Pirates have scored 37 runs over their last four games but have managed just two wins in those contests. Jason Bay is 6-for-17 (.353) with six RBI and five runs scored over that stretch.

On Saturday, Freddy Sanchez fell a triple shy of the cycle, leading the Pirates to an 11-6 victory over the Phillies.

Pittsburgh will send Ian Snell (7-10, 3.87 ERA) to the mound. The righthander is winless over his last seven starts, going 0-5 with a 6.69 ERA in that span, with the club failing to win in each of those starts as well.

The Phillies will counter with Kyle Lohse (7-12, 4.57), who is unbeaten since coming over from the Cincinnati Reds at the trading deadline. The 28-year-old righthander is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts with Philadelphia.

The Phillies have won four of their last six games and trail the division-leading New York Mets (69-53) by four games in the National League East. Philadelphia is tied with San Diego in the wild card race.
