Haren's impressive road record to be tested by Blue Jays
Aug 21, 2007 - 1:38 PM Oakland (62-64) at Toronto (63-61) 7:07 pm EDTTORONTO (Ticker) - Dan Haren puts his stellar road record on the line against one of the best home teams in the majors on Tuesday when the Oakland Athletics continue their three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Haren, who leads the AL in ERA, is 5-3 with a 2.53 ERA in 12 road starts this season. He will look to follow an impressive start from teammate Joe Blanton.
Blanton threw seven solid innings on Monday, while rookie Jack Hannahan hit a three-run homer, leading Oakland to a 6-4 win in Monday's series opener. It was Hannahan's first career homer.
Haren (13-4, 2.54 ERA) allowed four runs - two earned - in six innings, but did not receive a decision in his last outing against Chicago on Thursday.
Haren, who has not allowed more than three runs in his last eight starts, is 3-1 with a 5.73 ERA vs. Toronto, but has yet to face them this season.
Meanwhile, Dustin McGowan (8-7, 4.14) takes the hill for Toronto, which has the second-best home mark since May 11 at 32-15. McGowan, who has lost his last two starts, allowed four runs - three earned - and four hits in six innings in a 4-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday.
