McCann, Braves look to rebound against Reds
Aug 22, 2007 - 1:55 PM Atlanta (66-60) at Cincinnati (55-70) 7:10 pm EDTCINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Braves will look to bounce back from a tough loss against the Cincinnati Reds in the third game of their four-game series on Wednesday.
After winning Monday's opener, 14-4, the Braves dropped their fourth game in their last six by an 8-7 decision.
Brian McCann has homered in both games of the series thus far, and Mark Teixeira is hitting .545 (6-for-11) in his last three games with four home runs and 11 RBI.
The Braves dropped into third place in the National League East with their latest setback, falling six games behind the first-place New York Mets (71-53). Atlanta is also one game back of the San Diego Padres (66-58) and Philadelphia Phillies (66-58) in the wild card.
The Braves will send Lance Cormier (0-3, 9.90 ERA) to the mound and hopes the righthander can build on his last start. The 27-year-old went a season-high 7 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and eight hits in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
Cincinnati will counter with Bronson Arroyo (6-13, 4.58). The righthander won his last start at the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, going 7 1/3 innings as he gave up three runs and nine hits.
The Reds have won just two of their last last six home games.
